Re: [orca-list] I have installed Gnome and Orca on GRML

Regarding orca starting earlier than it should, not quite sure what causes it, I haven't noticed it on GRML but I think I noticed something similar on opensolaris. As I don't know the cause, I don't know the solution.

As a note: I set orca to start automatically by the check box in the orca preferences rather than through the preferred accessibility applications window in gnome or the session settings window.

As for using startx, I think an answer has been given, essentially redirect stdout and stderr to /dev/null and use the & character to put startx to the background. To save the typing add the command to a script.

Hi,
thanks to Michael Whapples, I successfully installed Gnome and the latest
Orca on a GRML system.
Everything went fine so far, but ther's one issue with Orca:
I set it to start automatically when I log in. Orca now starts as soon
as the log in window appears but it goes away immediately. After I put
in my log in data, Orca doesn't come back. I've to restart it manually.
Can anyone confirm this? What can I do to fix this?
And a question that might be a little OT:
I start the Gnome session with the command startx, which blocks the text
terminal I've performed that command. Any chance to get this terminal
back while Gnome is running?
