Hey, just wanted to let ya know:
I dono why, but when I did
cd
then:
xbindkeys --default >
/home/cgilland/.xbindkeysrc
I get a help message telling me about all the
option arguments I can use with xBindKeys.
When I looked in the home directory with ls, I
definitely! see the .xbindkeysrc file, however, when I open it from the terminal
in GEdit, nothing's in it.
I added the two lines anyway, but I'm not gonna
start up the daemon until you instruct me further, as I don't wanna start it,
then wind up braken sumpthin.
Chris.

Subject: Re: [orca-list] Setting up a
Keypress to launch Orca
I have found an answer. It's not very
hard to do actually. For anyone else interested, here's how to get it up
and running with ctrl+alt+o In terminal: sudo apt-get install
xbindkeys Once it has installed, type: xbindkeys --default >
/home/username/.xbindkeysrc replace username with your home folder name, in
my case it was /home/stormdragon/.xbindkeysrc Then, in your home folder,
type: gedit .xbindkeysrc If you aren't sure if you are in your home
directory you can quickly get there by typing: cd Once you have the
.xbindkeysrc file opened in gedit, scroll down to the bottom of the
file. There are 3 lines at the bottom there 34 # characters followed by
something like #end configuration and 34 more # characters. Just above
these three lines, typ in the following 2 lines: "orca" control+alt +
o Notice the quotes around the word orca and the space at the end of alt
then the plus and another space and o Hopefully one day Gnome will build in
a keyboard shortcut, but for now this is a quick and easy fix. The last
step, once you have saved and closed gedit is to typ: xbindkeys This
starts the xbindkeys daemon. HTH Storm PS There is a gui for
xbindkeys. It is called xbindkeys-config. It is not accessible
with Orca however. On Tue, 2009-02-03 at 19:24 -0500, Chris Gilland

That would be awesome! if you could do that.
let me know if you hear anything off
list with a suggestion. Otherwise I'll watch the list.

Subject: [orca-list] Setting up a Keypress to launch
Orca
Hi, I would like to set up a
keybinding to launch orca from anywhere. The one I have in mind is
ctrl+alt+o Is there an easy way to do this? The reason I am
wondering, is some times Orca goes silent and when I get it to come back I
find that I have renamed one of my folders or files orca. I am
guessing I am pressing f2 a little before alt and activating the rename
function. I think a keybinding that could be used anywhere would solve
this problem. Thanks Storm
