Hi,
No I don't think that libao will be a big maintenance problem because
it's already used in many other projects.
These tools like cdrdao are installed under all desktops with cd/dvd
burning applications.
In libao.conf you can only set the prefered output of libao which should
be in most cases (under ubuntu) pulse.
So there wouldn't be a problem with editing it because most people don't
change anything there.
