Re: [orca-list] orca on the ubuntu 9.04 cd

Hello, this problem of orca is quite well-known since the alpha-beta stages of ubuntu 9.04. I tried many methods but could not fix espeak. I used voxin and it worked without problem and orca became fine. however, if you want to use espeak, you will have to remove pulse and configure gnome-speech and speech-dispatcher with alsa. I accomplished it by following some tips from the net. I finally removed pulse by the following command:
sudo mv /usr/bin/pulseaudio ~/
just in case you need it afterwards.
everything is fine now except my voxin which has stopped working.
thanks,
Aruni.

HI all.

Firstly if i've missed anything here I appologize.
I've checked the mailing list archives and see no reference to orca and ubuntu 9.04.
Today I just downloaded the new ubuntu 9.04 live desktop i386 cd and have noticed when booting the live cde, orca doesn't speak properly at all.
When you do an alft f2 type in orca and hit enter orca doesn't read the beginning part of the setup assistant and you just can't seem to get through the setup correctly.
Is this a known problem with the ubuntu 9.04 live cd?
I've tried the live cd on 3 other pc's and the same thing happens.
If anyone has any info on this please can they let us know?

Thanks for your time.
