Dear Members,
does anybody of you know, how I can reach the foils layout menu?
Do I have to install a special office extension?
Thanks for help.
Greetings
Gerhard.

Good it works. I didn't know how usable it would be as I haven't
actually tried it myself.

Hi,
Yes, I tried the web version and it runs well. The only problem is
that I'm not able to read the table presented with the devices. I had
to save the report in html and then I could read it.

I don't actually know what is wrong and how to solve it, but it
appears that the java access bridge is not finding the native dll.
If other java GUI applications work fine with the java access
bridge, then all I can assume is that the bat file is messing up
something to do with the system paths. If this guess is correct
then it should be reported as a bug against the device detection
tool. Have you tried the web version?

I just realised I forgot the link to the device detection tool page.
It

Hello,
Admittedly number of audio devices supported is poor, but it is not
quite as bad as it seems on the live CD (although we do need audio
working then for installation with speech output). I would suggest
looking at the page of the device detection tool. Other than the
tool
itself to confirm whether your hardware will be supported, there are
links to the officially supported devices and third party drivers.
It
seems that there is a third party (not tested by the sun test tool)
driver for the SB live.
As for the package manager, it does work with orca, but
unfortunately
it loads data at the beginning making orca unresponsive and then
dynamically adjusts the lists as you navigate, again slowing up
orca.
So whilst it can be used, it isn't a practical option. You may find
the commandline tool pkg more useful.
I haven't a clue about the user options, I normally do all my user
management from the commandline in Linux.

Hi, I got open solaris to run on a older computer. It is a great
system, but here are three things I found.
My main problem is that no sound card I tried was supported other
than my USB speakers. Even my soundblaster live that works with
everything didn't work.
Second, the add remove software seems to be accessible, but all I
heard was updating packages. I waited several minutes and never did
hear anything else.
Last, and this is probably just a difference from what I was use
to.
In the user account settings, I didn't see a tab for setting user
privileges, or a setting to tell if the user is a administrator or
desk top user.
Other than that the system seems very good. But is anything
going
to be done to support more soundcards. With out that support a lot
of
people will not be able to use this system.

Dear users with Sound Blaster live audio cart,
Unfortunately, The newest awailable version of Opensolaris is not
supporting this sound cart. Sound max integrated audio is supported. So I Am
recommending You to post The pleasment to The opensolaris mailing list, if
would be possible to support this audio cart, or complex rebuild of device
detection tool and it's algorithms had to be performed. The next problem is
memory requirement, The cache syze must be very love while booting from CD
in A computer with less than 1 GB of RAM, so internal parts of bootable CD
drive can have big temperamenture, so be very careful and do not work with
live CDS too long if You are having computer with little memory. The
Opensolaris can be even saved on USB bootable flash disk, it is even
possible to use Orca but in CD from 6.11 there was procedure to enable USB
bootable Opensolaris to include Orca.
So I will try to find Opensolaris mailing list.

Hello,
I had a thought on my no sound problem on opensuse 11. Since i'm using
vmware the emulated sound card is a creative labs es1371 one of there
ensoniq models. I was wondering if anyone had this card and if it worked. If
i can't get the talking boot menu to go does anyone know if it's possible to
remaster the live cd so it's possible to boot it up and get speech?
Thanks.
Dave.

Hello Dave,
When you boot the CD there is a small beep sound which comes from the pc
speaker in my case.
I can then press F9 and I get the talking boot menu.
Maybe wait for about 10 seconds or so.

HI all,
Has anyone had sound problems when trying to boot the Opensuse Live CD?
I've had to boot it several times after it worked here.

Hi folks,
I read on the orca pages that there is a work around for using Skype with
Orca. Has anyone tried this? Does it work and if so how well? Apparently it
was something to do with a Pegeon plug-in.
thanks
Take care James
