I can only answer the one question concerning the download in
firefox.  Try hitting the right click key; that is, the context menu
key and if that doesn't do anything, then do a shift F10.  That way
for sure will bring up a context menu; just arrow up and down that
list and you should find the option you want.  I use that a lot to get
into the folder containing the file I just downloaded.
