I hope that my info as a new user is helpful and that someone here might be able to help; as this problem sure has me in a bind!
system info:
1. fedora 9 speakup modified, kernel 2.6.25 if my tired brain is thinking correctly
2. nvidia g force mx4000
3. orca ver: 2.22 updated via svn
4. atk, gail and at-spi were updated in the order written here. used svn to update my existing sources no errorsduring build and install process
5. I have working sound within the console
a discription of the problem:
1. within gnome in run level 5, open orca from the run box: no sound and as to the screen, from a parcially sighted friend, nothing happens within the area of the desktop
2. if I then go to gnome-terminal, and type orca --text-setup, speech starts to speak but the below error comes up:
traceback most recent call list

Please, if anyone can show me how to get further error info that might help, please e-mail me directly! I am in quite the bind! I have projects that are waiting for me to get back up and audio edit!
sincerely
Eric
