Re: [orca-list] firefox - page down doesn't work and error messageson the console

Hi,
Thanks, the page up/down problem is partially solved.
I say partially, because I think this keys don't do really what they are supposed to do. Sometimes, when I press page down, the cursor doesn't move, or if it moves, I don't perceive it. Other times, when I press page down and after page up, the cursor doesn't go to the place that it was previously.
Does it happen with you too?
I think it's important to solve this..
Do you know any other way to navigate faster on a page instead of using page down? I'm used to do this on jaws/windows, because sometimes I know that the objects I want are one or two pages below.

Thanks

Best regards

Hi,
I have ubuntu 7.10, firefox 3.0pre and orca 2.23.2pre, and I face the
following problems for a long time:

1. when I press page down, it doesn't advance on the page. What could be the
problem?

Open the preferences menu in FF, it is located in the edit menu.
Highlight the advanced tab and then the general subtab. Check the first
checkbox, something like "always use cursor for selection". Submit the
change by pressing the close button; this should work.
Regarding the folowing question: I think this always shows up when starting
FF from the Gnome terminal. Don't know whether it's important, but in my
experience it does no harm to your system; so you may ignore it.
You can start FF from the "run single command" dialog box, or you create a
symlink on your desktop.
