[orca-list] OT: Programming in Gnome

I'm curious about something. I have good programming skills in
several languages but all my linux experience is with console apps
when it comes to writing any programs. Is there any place I can go to
pick up on how to write some simple gnome style programs? In
particular, I'm thinking of writing something that can read and update
tag information on MP3 and ogg files. I'd like to be able to
right-click on a file in the browser and have one of the choices to
open up a view of the tags. Sure you can view the tags in some of the
media programs like totem but I don't wanna go to that additional
trouble just to id the tags. I could open up a terminal and use id3v2
to view the tags but again, I would like to make this more seemless
with the GUI plus it would probably be an excellent educational
opportunity to learn gnome programming.

Any ideas?
