When it comes to orca -t, I recall recently having to have X or gdm
running in the background in order for it to work. I only used it one
other time back when I was getting started and can't remember now if I
had any X stuff running at the time. This last time when I tried orca
- -t without any X running, I got errors complaining about the DISPLAY
not being set or such. So what I did was start gdm up and not gotten
any speech or login or any of that but then ctrl-alt-F1 back to my
console and then run orca -t and then it worked.
This is all on a Slackware 12 box with Dropline-gnome 2.20 installed
plus the latest svn's of orca, etc.
