Hey there Hermann, I can answer two out of three questions for
you. I did set up my espeak.conf file to choose pulse by editing
espeakaudiooutputmethod="pulse" (was originally alsa). As far as
reasons for trying pulseaudio, I'm looking forward to certain
benefits, like being able to send sound to other devices (e.g. using
one set of speakers for music, other for speech). Lastly, how do you
test pulseaudio itself to insure its working? I can tell you I have
sound in all my other apps.
