Hi Lars,
After starting X change to a plain text con and login with the same user
account which you are  using  under X.
First check if at-spi-registrid is runing
pidof at-spi-registryd

If you get a pid of running registryd then Type:
export DISPLAY=:0.0
export GTK_MODULES=gail:atk-bridge
orca

Now orca starts and you can read errormessages which orca prints out.

If orca is not working now you can edit ~/.orca/user-settings.py and
change debug level and debugfile to get more debug output.
