I am blind. I use braille and speech.
I also use alpine.
I prefer a quoted reply.

If people quote the reply properly it is easy to follow since you know 
what part of the mail they are answering.
And there isn't usually a lot of quoted text.
Sometimes lots of quoted text is needed...
