[orca-list] Configurations and Setup

While getting my arms around this gnome scene, I wonder which files
should we modify and which ones should be left alone for software
future updates and all that. I found /etc/gdm/defaults.conf which
control startup info such as sounds, logon properties and such. I for
fun, tried grepping for things like speech, espeak, etc. and came up
with nearly nothing in /etc /X11 or /etc/gdm. I just got espeak built
on my machine again (1.30) and will be back home to test again tonight
after work. I want to add some sound prompts so I can see if I even
get through the login process OK. I'm tempted to turn on auto login
for now so I don't have to try and navigate that dialog without any
speech.

Am I going about this the right way? I realize once I have speech
access in GDM, I can go into gdmsetup and do more customizing. Is it
in gdmsetup where you can specify that Orca come up automatically?

Also, I saw some text saying that pressing and holding ctrl-S would
bring up Orca in speech mode; where would be able to do that key
sequence? do you need to be logged in already?

Does gnome come with any sample sound files like MS windows or do you
need to roll your own? thanks for the help.
