Yeah, I think that key combo is a gnome terminal function - definitely
not a part of Orca specifically. I just run emacs in another terminal
window so Orca provides the access I want. I suppose I could turn off
Orca speech in that window if I wanted to use one of the speech
enhancements for emacs like speechd-el or emacspeak. I haven't
bothered with any of that so far. I mainly have been using emacs to
edit my email with mutt (also run from a terminal) and light editing.

HTH.

Thanks, Steve. The shift + slash isn't documented in learn mode (orca +
f1).

It's no Orca key, this procedure is similar to Windows.

Also, how do you run emacs? from a text console or from a
gnome-terminal? This would make a difference as to whether the
clipboard was available.

You can use Emacs from a terminal window, if you use Speech-Dispatcher
as the speech system. You have to install speechd-el in addition.
This does not only work in a text console, but makes Emacs accessible in the
Gnome terminal. See:

Look in the projects section.
