Hi Brian, I have also installed opensuse 11.1. However, my open office is working fine including word and calc. Firefox is totally inaccessible not even the menu bar, address bar etc.

I will summarize:

Recent changes in Gtk+ and gnome-settings-daemon broke accessibility
for non-Gtk+ apps that use Gtk+ (this includes Firefox, OpenOffice,
and others).  Basically openSUSE, being brand new, used a brand new
version of Gtk that requires some accessibility fixes for
applicaitons that use Gtk.   The Fixes are currently being worked on.
