Re: [orca-list] Various Questions about Orca and web browsers

Hi Peter:

Very interesting stuff.

gave me that information. How does Orca communicate with Firefox 3.0?

Orca communicates with Firefox via the AT-SPI. If you can get to other parts of the desktop with Orca, then something seems like it might be going wrong in the way Firefox is connecting to the AT-SPI. I'm not sure of the best way to debug that (it's always worked for me).

2) The gnome web browser Epiphany works somewhat with Orca. The support is not great, but one is at least able to browse most of the web pages. Why is this web browser not supported? Can anything be done to support this web browser?

The Orca team is small and we can only do so much. For web accessibility, we chose Firefox because it has the richest support for accessibility. If there is a strong interest in Ephiphany, we would definitely be willing to accept a script someone develops for it.

Hope this helps!

Will
