Re: [orca-list] Glade interface designer

How does glade compare to something like XUL (the XML interface language which mozilla technology uses)? From what I understand, XUL is pretty close to what HTML5 will be -- i.e. like xhtml with lots of specialized widgets "built in". I'm guessing that glade is much more based on laying things out by hand on a canvass, where as xul and html5 layout things automatically for you based on the position of objects in the input data modified with style sheet rules.

Hi,

Unfortunately, as you have found, it is quite hard/virtually impossible
to use glade as a blind designer.

One could write the python (or any other language for that matter) code
to create the gtk widgets and connect things up (i.e. the same way as
before glade was made available), but this is long winded and requires
time.
So far, i have been finding glade xml files, and searching for widgets
then copying the chosen widgets and modifying these to suit my needs to be a
quicker process, despite the trial and error.

There are several glade-3 related accessibility bugs open, and the more
people comment and request these to be looked at, the hopefully sooner
they will get some attension.
I havent tried the svn/cvs (dont know which) latest version, so don't
know if it has improved.

Hi all,

Is there a way for blind users running orca use the glade
(http://glade.gnome.org/) designer?... I tried working with this thing
but can create just top level windows... On the glade user's manual
there is no reference to keyboard shortcuts nor something. It is strange
because glade folks supply controles for defining acessibility
properties but there program seems not so accessible....
