Re: [orca-list] [Fwd: Announcing Orca v2.19.92]

Hey Chris:

Right now, I'm a Ubuntu user, learning a lot about Ubuntu, Gnome, Brltty (as you
well know), and Orca all at the same time. I'm thinking that probably I should
get my current Feisty and apt-gettable Gnome running smoothly with Orca.

Having said that, could I run the Orca 2.19.92 without updating to a newer
of Gnome than I get with apt-get install gnome with Ubuntu 7.04 (feisty)?

Should work fine. I do it all the time -- I work with the latest Orca
(both the SVN trunk and the gnome-2-20 branch) on machines that run
Feisty, Gutsy, and Solaris Express Community Edition.

Because Orca is on top of the food chain, it has a lot of dependencies
across the entire desktop. As a result, there are fixes that have gone
into the GNOME 2.19.x series of things (stuff on Gutsy) that probably
have not gone into the GNOME 2.18.x series of things (stuff on Feisty).
As such, your accessibility mileage may vary across the two platforms.
