Hi listers,

I have to test a Novell Suse desktop on the level of accessibility.

Does Orca supports the Suse distribution in the same way as Ubuntu?

I namely had problems with turning on braille and speechsupport and had trouble
to install Espeak.
In the past i also had trouble with the management of Edirectory in Netware as
well as Suse Enterprise-server and had to do all the administration on the
Command-line.

Are there listers here who have more info on this toppic?

I'm currently working with OpenSUSE 10.3 and accessibility is an
absolute joke.

The entire gnome desktop's accessibility seems to be broken.

ACcessible log in is broken,
That was fixed by compiling gdm again with the location of at-spi,
64 bit versions however still don't work with accessible log in.
When you log in, things don't get any better. The only thing I can
use successfully in gnome is the terminal. For some reason, orca
works reasonably well in that but good luck with everything else.
THey've divided the origional bug that I submitted into four or five
different bugs however they seemed to have missed this important
aspect.

Unbelieveably reckless, careless and and incomplete are the words that
I would use to describe OpenSUSE's accessibility at the moment.

SBL seems to be making good progress. That's the screen reader for
the console but if you want to use speech, you need to download
another kernel with a different key map.

It looks like certain people in Novell are trying to push
accessibility but their fighting a constant up hill battle.

The origional bug I submitted is: 332498.

I've all but had enough of the whole thing. Let me know if you need
any help with it but You need a lot of patients.
