Re: [orca-list] problem reading applications menu with orca (trunk)

Hi Halim:

Ahhh...Alt+F1. D'Oh! I've been on OpenSolaris for a few weeks now. It uses Ctrl+Escape, so Alt+F1 did nothing for me. How soon we forget. :-)

Anyhow, if you can turn on full debugging and log things to a file, I suspect tracebacks might come up that give us some clue. In your ~/.orca/user-settings.py file, uncomment the following lines:

orca.debug.debugLevel = orca.debug.LEVEL_ALL
orca.debug.debugFile = open('debug.out', 'w', 0)

You might even make the 'debug.out' filename be absolute (e.g., '/tmp/debug.out'). Restart Orca, reproduce the problem, and then quit Orca. Save the debug.out file somewhere and look at it for tracebacks.

Nice to see you back in here again. :-)
Thanks but I was never away from here!!!

I'm curious about which application you are using and if you're really pressing Alt+F1 to bring up the menu or Alt+F?

alt+f1 on the gnome desktop?
It is not a special application I mean the application menu for starting
programs under gnome.

I noticed that all works fine if braille is turned off.
I.ll do more tests with the latest brltty!
Do you know whats wrong there?
Thanks
Halim

hi,
It might be a problem with the pyatspi migration or not?
When I press alt+f1 ->cursorup/down orca does not read anything.
When I press alt+f1->cursor left and then up/down orca reads the menu as
expected.
Do I need to update some packages?
python-pyatspi is from debian unstable and Orca last svn snapshot.
Thanks
Halim
