I'm no programmer so can't say anything for sure, but i wonder if this
really is an Orca bug. I guess that it's Gnome that has to call up those
dialogs and stuff and that it takes time for those dialog boxes to pop

suspicious "anykey" line in my .xsession-errors file appearing hundreds 
of times.  I suspect that this is not normal but would like confirmation 
from some of the other testers.  You should have a .xsession-errors file 
in your home directory.
