Re: [orca-list] Selected text is not displayed

Hello Bertil,

Thanks for your answer. I assume when I call /configure without any
further arguments, my currently installed version of BrlTTY is
overwritten. Should I rather deinstall BrlTTY before?

As my self-compiled version is not supposed to be installed over to
/usr/local/, I tried to install it via checkinstall. At the installation
of the new package, the following error occurred:
simonlaptop:/home/simon/brltty-3.8# dpkg -i brltty_3.8-1_i386.deb
(Reading database ... 80904 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace brltty 3.7.2-7.1 (using brltty_3.8-1_i386.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement brltty ...
dpkg: error processing brltty_3.8-1_i386.deb (--install):
trying to overwrite `/usr/share/man/man3/brlapi_tty.3.gz', which is
also in package libbrlapi1-dev
dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)
Starting Braille terminal driver: process already running.
brltty.
Errors were encountered while processing:
 brltty_3.8-1_i386.deb
simonlaptop:/home/simon/brltty-3.8#

Should one rather not use checkinstall or when is the use of this tool
sensible?

Simon
