problems getting speech-dispatcher to work:
downloaded the latest tarball
read the INSTALL file
installed deps using apt-get
did:
./configure
make all
sudo make install
all works without any problems
except, when it comes to testing the output:
spd-say hello
obtaining the following:
client: speech dispatcher failed to open: connection refused.
sticking sudo results in the same message.
so did:
sudo speech-dispatcher
loads without problems, and it states that it is starting with one
output module.
doing:
sudo spd-say hello
still no audable output, but no error.
I dont seem to have no /var/log/speechd.log to examine.
where to proceed from here?
Thankyou
-Jon
