Hi Paul:
Running DECtalk's ./install.sh script as root ("sudo ./install.sh")
should do it. I tend to modify the first line in ./locations.sh to the
following:
BASE_DIR="/usr"
As part of the ./install.sh, DECtalk should speak. If it doesn't, then
there were issues. The most common issue is probably something wrong
with sound on the machine. I sometimes find that unchecking the ESD
option in the "Sounds" tab in the "Sound
Preferences" (gnome-sound-properties) application makes DECtalk find its
voice.

Hi All,
I am trying to install the decktalk for linux package and when I unzip the
package and try to run the installer inside nothing seems to happen. I
would have expected there to be some questions asked during the setting up
of the decktalk installation or am I doing it incorrectly. I have the files
in a folder on a CD and am using the latest Ubuntu with all updates
installed. Could anyone tell me how I should go about installing this
program.
Many thanks,
Paul.
