Re: [orca-list] how does portaudio19 relate to orca?

Hi,
Portaudio is a sound library used by espeak.
Espeak is one of the voice synthesizers that can be used by orca.
There are two versions of portaudio around. 18 and 19, or I think it is
0.18 and 0.19.
0.19 I understand has alsa support where 0.18 does not. In practice it
means that it is easyer to send two sound streams to the soundcard when
using portaudio 19. So you can listen to a song while e.g. writing a
document using espeak as your synthesizer.

hello,
this might be a very simple question but I am really confused so please answer.
how does portaudio19 better orca?
I think portaudio is not some speech backend or some thing.
so how does it relate to orca?
and if there are benifits then how do I install it on my laptop?
do I need to install any thing else apart from portaudio 19 for geting
the advantages?
regards,
Krishnakant.
