Hello there,
I tryed to experiment on my own a bit. At first I was trying to get
python-pyorbit and gnome updated from the experimental branch. I was
unsuccesfull so I had to add also the testing and unstable branch to
fetch missing dependencies. Finally I installed orca from the
experimental debian package. Upon trying to set it up in the gnome
terminal by issuing a orca -t command I received a error which is
included at the end of this message.
Unluckily after the system reboot it is even unable to show login
screen, it ends with attempts to find appropriate run level or so. Hm..
I screwed it al up wit a lot of experimental stuff when searching for
all the dependencies. Now I am able to run in safe mode only. So I would
perhaps have to start from scratch. So after installing latest stable
debian shal I update gnome to latest 2.18? Where can I get it from and
what packages to install to keep it runing? yes and another question
comes to my mind. shal I also update to python 2.5 or is 2.4 sufficient?
BTW thanks for the hint on using orca with speech-dispatcher I have read
a wiki article posted by Tomas Cerha describing how it works. I thought
I will be able to use festival via gnome-speech but you definatelly
corrected me. thanks
Now the error message shown on the first start of orca follows (please
note I havent installed gnome speech my-self - so its why it's there I
think):

Hi,
there is more questions. First you need know whether you want to use
orca with Czech language. Because I know that your native language is
Slowak I think that yes. If yes then best way is use speech dispatcher
with orca.
For this you need use orca 2.19 from svn repository. The configuration
and compilation process is easy and is well described on Orca pages.
Then you need install python-speechd package and latest speech
dispatcher.
If you want configure orca in gnome then good way is run orca from
terminal as: orca -t I think that you will have here some problems
because there is problem with festival driver in gnomespeech on debian
but I'm not sure with it now. So try it and write again and we can
continue.
Best.
