[orca-list] "Black circle" What's that?

Hi,
I just updated to revision 2309, where Joanie put some fixes regarding
numbered lists and bullets.
All fine as usual, but one strange thing: No matter how you set up your
key echo, the speech always says "black circle" when you type a
password. This also happens in other apps than FF, for example in the
network configuration interface.
Could that be taken away, or if it's wished, replaced by a shorter name
for that character? It shouldn't be spoken, if the key echo is set to
"word", as I did.
