Orca Movie Player stops speech in

Hi,
today I noticed that when starting the Ubuntu movie player Totem, Orca stops
speaking.
This happens in all applications unless I quit the movie player.
I couldn't toggle speech on and off by pressing insert+s; this feature is
back after closing the player.
I use a Sound Blaster PCI128 sound card that is able to use multi channel.
It works under Windows ME on my machine.
Note: This doesn't happen in the Rhythm Box music player.
