Re: orca 0.2.4 compiler log error

Hey Cody:

The log file is called config.log and it is created in the same
directory where you run ./ and/or ./configure.

PS - I hope you're taking good notes! We could could use good notes for
Debian in the "Installing and Setting Up Orca" section of the Orca wiki:

hi will,
I hate to sound ni`eve, but where is the log file located? and even wehn I
tried to compile gnopernicus, it still gives me the same error, that the
compiler can not create executables. I have gcc 4.0 or so it says.

Is it possible /home/churst/Desktop/orca is not writable by you? Try
cd'ing to /home/churst/Desktop/orca and doing a "touch foo". In
addition, does config.log give any insight?

I just installed Ubuntu 5.10 on my laptop and I can't seem to get
orca to install. it keeps complaining the compiler will not compile.

here are the commands I typed:

cd /home/churst/Desktop/orca
./configure prefix=/usr
:error:C compiler cannot create executable
See config.log for mre details

Here are the things that it failed to check that were No.

checking for gawk ... no
Checking whether makesets $(MAKE) ... no
checking whether to enable maintainer - specific portions of
makefiles ... no
Checking for style of include used by make ... none
checking for C compiler default output filename ... configure:error:C
compiler can not create executables

what is going on here and what do i need to install to get orca to
compile correctly?
