Re: Orca which version of python-orbit is to be used with ?

Hello Willem,

Which oS are you running, I'm guessing some flavor of Debian? I've had this problem as well with both Debian Etch and sid. The version of Pyorbit that worked for me was pyorbit-2.14.0.tar.gz, as downloaded from ftp.gnome.org. I'm not sure why Debian is still using an older version of Pyorbit, or for that matter, why they're still including python 2.3 as well as 2.4. But in any case, installing pyorbit-2.14 should do the trick. You will also have to delete the /usr/bin/python symlink, and recreate it so it points to python2.4 instead of python 2.3.

Hope this helps,

--Al

Subject: Orca which version of python-orbit is to be used with ?

What is the full version number of the python-orbit module that is
compatible with the current CVS version of Orca?
I also get:
import atspi
  File "/usr/local/lib/python2.4/site-packages/orca/atspi.py", line 48, in
?
    ORBit.CORBA.ORB_init(orb_id="orbit-io-thread")
TypeError: ORB_init() takes no keyword arguments

Any ideas?
TIA, Willem
