:-) sounds ugly; I'm most interested in what glib does of course -
since this is supposed to provide some level of abstraction for this
sort of thing.
I was hoping that 'g_poll' - the internal version of poll for Windows
used by glib would work for us:

Sadly, LXR seems to be broken; hmm.
Anyway, that seems to use WaitForMultipleObjects, although whether it
works for file descriptors I know not; in total it looks rather
confusing to me, who knows nothing about Windows.
Of course, you could talk to Tor Lillqvist <tml@iki.fi> who is working
on the glib Windows code.
