Ah, now it's clear why the scanner code is not present in
gnome-volume-manager. (=

Looking around seems HAL is missing a scanner's FDI file and this one
should probably be generated automatically with an helper program from
the Sane project, like it's actually done for cameras by the
libgphoto2 "print-camera-list" program.

Am i correct?
