Hi,
I can confirm this observation at my k5160(mbim-mode):
3: wwp0s20u1c2: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,NOARP,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc
pfifo_fast state UNKNOWN group default qlen 1000
link/ether fe:e0:9a:00:0e:7b brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
inet 10.198.157.187/29 brd 10.198.157.191 scope global wwp0s20u1c2
valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
inet6 2a01:598:90a0:44a8:1ca1:f817:2351:ba66/64 scope global temporary
dynamic

inet6 2a01:598:90a0:44a8:fce0:9aff:fe00:e7b/64 scope global mngtmpaddr

inet6 2a01:598:90a0:44a8:5a2c:80ff:fe13:9208/64 scope global
valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
Despite the device has no link local address - for routing link local address
is used:
ip -6 r
2a01:598:90a0:44a8::/64 dev wwp0s20u1c2 proto kernel metric 256 pref medium
default via fe80::4e54:99ff:fe45:e5d5 dev wwp0s20u1c2 proto ra metric 1024
expires 8325sec pref medium
With an older mbim-modem (k5150) the behavior is different:
ip a
4: wwp0s20u1c2: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,NOARP,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc
pfifo_fast state UNKNOWN group default qlen 1000

inet 10.77.249.102/30 brd 10.77.249.103 scope global wwp0s20u1c2

noprefixroute
valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
inet6 fe80::49f8:5b75:b302:a43c/64 scope link
valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
ip -6 r
fe80::4e54:99ff:fe45:e5d5 dev wwp0s20u1c2 proto static metric 700 pref medium
fe80::/64 dev wwp0s20u1c2 proto kernel metric 256 pref medium
default via fe80::4e54:99ff:fe45:e5d5 dev wwp0s20u1c2 proto static metric 700
pref medium
I used "tumbleweed" wit mm 1.6.8 and nm 18.2
Both modems work.
Regards,
Thomas
