I don't think upstream will help you with 0.9.4 unless you reproduce the same bug on the latest 0.9.8 and/or 
git. There's no Ubuntu 12.02 but if you have 12.04, that seems to be LTS and you could have more luck with 
the Ubuntu bugzilla if they still support it.
