As a side note, I'm also working with the new Verizon Pantech UML295
modem, which is turning out to be vastly different than the UML290. You
can see the work I've done so far in the link below.

Oh fun, one of those. Does it support QMI or AT or DIAG at all, or is
it solely Web-based?
This part caught my eye:

So it looks like it supports a number of different modes, including a
couple with adb(!) and also a mbim mode. Which I find interesting, but
which might not be that useful with MM yet.
I expect the "rmnet" function supports QMI. But what's "wmb"?
Anyway, better not play with any mode without "hid" (which I assume is
the web interface), as we don't know how to switch modes then. Although
I guess the diag+adb+acm+serial+rmnet mode is the closest one to the
UML290?
Wouldn't adb imply it's running Android inside?
Likely, but not necessarily. It would sure be interesting to poke
around with adb shell, if supported.
Also, look at the HID
descriptors from the lsusb output, they look really weird (Belgian?
Arabic?). I wonder if they are actually valid and useful.
Right, so "hid" in the interface mode list was really HID. I just
assumed it was a function name for the web service. Well, then we don't
know which of these modes support the web service or not. It's tempting
to guess that it always is present regardless of network function type.
But then again, it might not be.
Yes, the HID descriptors look weird and I don't understand what they are
supposed to be used for. Some sort of vendor specific monitor
application support, using HID reports maybe?
