As a side note, I'm also working with the new Verizon Pantech UML295

Oh fun, one of those. Does it support QMI or AT or DIAG at all, or is
it solely Web-based?

This part caught my eye:

So it looks like it supports a number of different modes, including a
couple with adb(!) and also a mbim mode. Which I find interesting, but
which might not be that useful with MM yet.

I expect the "rmnet" function supports QMI. But what's "wmb"?

Anyway, better not play with any mode without "hid" (which I assume is
the web interface), as we don't know how to switch modes then. Although
I guess the diag+adb+acm+serial+rmnet mode is the closest one to the
UML290?

Wouldn't adb imply it's running Android inside? Also, look at the HID
descriptors from the lsusb output, they look really weird (Belgian?
Arabic?). I wonder if they are actually valid and useful.
