Even, if I try to force it to connect to my access point (by using the "connect to other wireless networks") it doesn't work. However, if I manually restart the NetworkManager daemon, it shows my access point and I can connect to it without a problem.

As root, from a terminal, run '/sbin/iwlist ethX scan' and replace ethX
with your wireless device. Do you see any access points using WEP? Do
you see any WPA-enabled ones? A WPA-enabled access point should look
like this:
Cell 04 - Address: 00:19:xx:xx:xx:xx
ESSID:"foobar"
Protocol:IEEE 802.11bg
Mode:Master
Channel:9
Encryption key:on
Bit Rates:1 Mb/s; 2 Mb/s; 5.5 Mb/s; 6 Mb/s; 9 Mb/s
11 Mb/s; 12 Mb/s; 18 Mb/s; 24 Mb/s; 36 Mb/s
48 Mb/s; 54 Mb/s
Quality=37/100 Signal level=-78 dBm
IE: WPA Version 1
Group Cipher : TKIP
Pairwise Ciphers (2) : TKIP CCMP
Authentication Suites (1) : PSK
IE: IEEE 802.11i/WPA2 Version 1
Group Cipher : TKIP
Pairwise Ciphers (2) : TKIP CCMP
Authentication Suites (1) : PSK
And any WEP AP should say "Encryption key: on". What versions of the
ipw2200 and ieee80211 modules do you currently have loaded (you can get
that from 'dmesg' output)?
Thanks,
Dan
