I backported this change (revision 588045) to the package that I'm using
(based on revision 577960), and it seems to work. However, the scanning
interval is not decreased until the end of the current interval. That
means that in the worst case, it still takes 2 minutes for new networks
to be visible. It would be better if the interval was changed
immediately.
