Ok, next thing to do is to stop NetworkManager, and then run it from a
terminal with:
NetworkManager --no-daemon
and email back the first 10 lines that it spits out... That will tell
you whether NM actually sees the device. Next, if you've checked out
from CVS, run the test/nmtest program to see what NetworkManager
advertises over DBus.
