You can make your life much easier if you actually use the version that
comes with your distribution, because then, you can be sure that your
distribution also ships its dependancies. Most distributions even have
infrastructure for this. For Ubuntu, you can do
apt-get source nautilus
to download the source. If you still have problems fullfilling the
dependancies, you can do
sudo apt-get build-dep nautilus
to install the build dependancies. (commands from memory, untested)
