I agree, but moving something to Trash is not about losing data.
Expunging the trash is about losing data, that's why you get a
confirmation dialog by default for that case.

Sorry, my post wasn't meant offending.
I should have already elaborated my point of view in my last posting, so
let me try:
Users get used to such dialogs. Users get conditioned. Users don't read
such dialogs anymore because it's a standard action that you do several
times. After the 5th time you know "I click the left button to make that
annoying dialog go away". That's why I want confirmation dialogs only if
*really* needed (like warning when permanently deleting data).
I've seen people not reading such dialogs many times in my life (both
others and me myself back in the days running other operating systems).

example.

I'm not a nautilus developer. I'm part of the GNOME project and I can
only speak for myself. Others may not share my opinions (in fact I do
hope so, because that's what progress is all about).
