Hello!
I am using ubuntu hardy with kde 3.5. I was disappointed to find dolphin
replaced nautilus for whatever reason and I don't really care for
dolphin so I added nautilus from the repos (I am using 2.2.2) but on a
few occasions nautilus fails to load and I get err msgs about GLib and
something like 'synchronization fault'.
I googled a bunch of ubuntu and *nix pages and it seems this is not a
rare problem. I could find no concise description as to the cause, but
it seems that either hardy and/or kde 3.5 is somehow not as friendly for
nautilus as feisty or gutsy. I did run apt-get clean and that did not
resolve the problem, but rebooting seemed to.
I would appreciate some comment as to whether the nautilus/gnome
developers can shed any specific light on this issue and tell me how to
get nautilus to run more stably with hardy and kde 3.5.
I also have a more specific question: what function allows Nautilus to
render icons that apparently display the first frame of video files? I
note that this feature is not available in either Konqueror or Dolphin
so I am curious what enables it in Nautilus.
Thanks!
Larry M
