Re: [Nautilus-list] Re: bug in Mozilla 0.9.1

Using Nautilus CVS head and mozilla 0.9.1 fetched from the http location
that I put on the README file, I can browse man pages, info pages, local
html files, remote html files and follow links just fine.

Of course this is all on RedHat 7.x, and Chris Blizzard's RPMS which
were made for 7.x.

So maybe on other systems such as Mandrake, you have to obtain your
Mozilla from your vendor.

I think its beyond unfortunate that there are diverging versions of
Mozilla RPMS floating around. Maybe we should update the README to
account for this and tell users to obtain their Mozilla from the same
vendor that provides their OS.

Of course this gets even more complicated as Ximian is not really an OS
vendor but has their own GNOME distribution.

I wish I had the right answer for you Dan, but im confused as well. I
changed the README after trying Mozilla 0.9.1 and making sure it was
source and binary compatible with Nautilus, and of course that it
worked.

Now, im not sure how bug
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83157 affects Nautilus. I
just read it and I don't think it does.

So bottom line is that if we are going to recommend a version of Mozilla
to use with Nautilus, then the best right answer (even if ambiguous) is
to say "get the latest stable version from your vendor" and hope that
the vendors care about adding patches as needed.

Or we could spell it out for the major distributions and update this as
we know more. This would be more precise even if more complicated.

So the information in the README is currently accurate only for RedHat
7.x.
