For the <?xml ..?>, I think there should be a way to remove it at serialisation time.
For the spaces, you must be aware that the non significant spaces are not kept in the in
memory XML representation. So there is no way we can keep *all* the non significant spaces
and reserialise them back. But I think we can start keeping more white spaces than what we do
today. That would mean no indentation at save time though.
The best thing I think, would be to have some user settings to choose how to serialise.
So the answer is yes, we can put that in the plan ;)
We still have to write that plan though, and this writting is part of the work that is
being done on the new website.
