Re: [gnome.org #2116] Application received from Subhransu Behera (arya_subhransu AT yahoo.co.in)

Hi,
Sorry for the delay in replying, but I had a really hectic time the
last couple of days.

The GNOME foundation membership committee needs more information to
process the application of Subhransu Behera. Since [he/she] has listed
you as the primary contacts, the committee would like you to list the
contributions that Subhransu Behera has made for the GNOME community in
recent times. Your input will be greatly appreciated to help us to make
a fair and informed decision in the granting or denying the applicant as
a foundation member.

I am not sure what criteria you use to evaluate a candidate's
eligibility for membership, so I hope that I am addressing the correct
areas. Also, I presume that this is confidential.

Subhransu has certainly done a lot of work for Oriya localisation of
GNOME. From our initial efforts, we had struggled to get some 10-15%
of GNOME translated, and he has almost single-handedly brought this
up to the healthy current figure of 69% of GNOME 2.16. He has also
been doing some work in improving Oriya fonts, and rendering.
Unfortunately, there is not yet a thriving Oriya localisation community,
but the failing there has been equally ours, and the fact that there is
probably not yet a sufficiently large base of open-source Oriya users.

Regards,
Gora
