Currently, Matthias is the single most active and valuable contributor
to GTK+ ..  more so than me even. He was instrumental in the successful
release of of GLib and GTK+ 2.4, largely by taking on the the ugly
jobs that nobody else wanted to do. He's the maintainer of gdk-pixbuf.
Over last few years he's done a great job getting most of 
of GTK+ and GLib to 100% complete API docs. (And while doing so,
has done a lot of work on the gtk-doc tools.)

As you can probably see from the above, I think he's a no-brainer for
deserving to have his application approved :-)
