Can we do this a different way which doesn't need a new preference?
Also ideally minimize popup dialogs and have an obvious way to toggle
between vcs.
Perhaps the vcview could have a combo box which shows all the suitable
vcs for the current location? Ideally the last used choice for each location
should be saved as the default for next time (and also for locations which
are subdirectories of the current location)
Even if the preference isn't saved, isn't it the case that in "mixed"
vc folders,
you'll have cvs/svn and hg/git/whatever and you usually want the dvcs?
