Meld doesn't show differences in line endings in file view, but files
with different line endings are shown as being different in directory
and VC views (see http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=547743).
It would be nice if the file view did have some way of showing this
sort of thing.
You can test the behaviour by putting your two (identically named)
text files in different directories and comparing the directories. The
suggested regex works for me.
