SSH copy without temporary file creation

Hi all,
I often connect to remote servers via SSH in MC (shell link).
When I copy the files, they get always first copied to a temporary
location, and only then downloaded (or uploaded). This can take a while
if the files are large and filesystem is slow.
Can I disable this behaviour so it would start scp-ing directly without
making a temporary copy of the file?
Thanks,
May
